Wellness on Wheels was in the News!

Wellness on Wheels is our favorite afterschool program in all of Houston. Started by long-time cyclist, community member, and ride leader Rene Gonzalez. Click here for a link to the full ABC13 article.

Join us for BikeHouston's Bayou Exploration Ride!

This is a slower, educational ride on the first Sunday of every month departing from Market Square (by NikoNiko’s) at 8 am (unless otherwise stated). This ride is designed to highlight existing and future bikeways. It is usually on both paved and unpaved surfaces. EaDo Bike Co will be along for the ride to provide rider support!

Pace: Moderate, with stops to discuss how Houston is evolving and what is coming;
Length: 2-3 hours;
Recommendations: Fatter tires highly recommended, but some folks tough it out on road bikes;
As always: helmet, water, and spare tubes; be self-sufficient.

We Now Carry Lezyne!

Help Save the White Oak Bayou!

TxDOT's interest in ruining Houston's green spaces is endless.

The proposed 90-foot elevation of I-10 (see images) would do away with one of the best views of Houston's skyline! It will also take up to 10 years, hurt home values, lead to increased pollution, and more!

It's not too late to let TxDOT and the City of Houston know that we would rather have our greenways stay green than opt into another unnecessary freeway project.

It's made the Ballot!
Vote YES on Prop B in November!

Fair for Houston has been working tirelessly to make this happen, and we are happy to support!

In case you didn't know, the Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) is the regional organization through which local governments consider issues and cooperate in solving area wide problems. Through H-GAC, local governments also initiate efforts in anticipating and preventing problems, saving public funds.

Currently, Houston and Harris County make up 57% of the population represented on the H-GAC’s board of directors, yet the city and county combined only have 11% of the voting power. In addition, Houston and Harris County make up 62.6% of the population represented on the Transportation Policy Council, yet the city and county combined have only 17.9% of the voting power.

You see where we're going with this, right?

Green is Good:
Houston Endowment gives $8 million to Houston Parks Board and Trees For Houston

Let's face it, it's been pretty hot this summer. This donation from the Houston Endowment hopes to mitigate some of the causes.

New from Wolftooth Components:
Supple Bar Tape

Supple Bar Tape for drop bars is extra thick, extra wide, extra soft, and extra tacky. Designed for the abuse of unforgiving trails. Keep your hands extra comfortable when the road gets extra rough.

  • 5mm thick
  • 40mm wide
  • 152cm long per roll (two rolls per package)
  • 100% silicone compound. Customize the feel of your handlebars with varying levels of overlap. The extra thick and extra wide material creates the same thickness and comfort in one wrap that would take multiple layers of traditional bar tape.

  • Self-fusing silicone finishing tape included for a clean finishing touch.

Surly Skidloader: Just as Easy, not as Big

Cutting back on car trips is a worthy undertaking, especially in these times of planetary peril. With its electric-assist motor and extreme hauling capabilities, our compact electric cargo bike Skid Loader invites those inclined to throw a leg over and wave their middle digits at downtown gridlock. Built for finding more ways to drive less and ferrying various materials to work, play, or wherever, we gave Skid Loader the utility of a long-tail and a manageable footprint that fits wherever a normal bike does.

Comfortable and compliant under load, Skid Loader also enjoys cutting loose without cargo. Engineered to ride and feel like a regular bike, its 27.5” wheel platform provides abundant tire options you don’t get from cargo bikes rolling on smaller wheels. And because it’s a Surly, we gave it ample tire clearance and built it for commutes that go from bus stop to bandit trail. We also gave all three frame sizes adequate standover and a dropper post to fit riders of assorted shapes and sizes. Furnished with useful accessory barnacles and internal routing for just about everything, Skid Loader’s scaled-down and feature-packed cargo frame removes the roadblocks between you and riding whenever the hell you want.

  • Equipped with Bosch Performance Cargo Drive Unit, featuring four invigorating levels of ride assist
  • Capable of running dual batteries for extended range
  • Dedicated rear rack rated for 100 pounds of potatoes, thanks to beefed-up M6 hardware
  • Internal cable routing for dropper post, brake, shifter, and lights
  • Mounts for fenders, front rack, and bottle cages (two on Medium and Large, one on Small)
  • Stable dual-leg kickstand for your loading convenience
  • Sturdy, full-size wheels and large-volume 27.5 x 2.5” ExtraTerrestrial tires

Welcome to the Future!
E-Bikes from Benno

We are excited to announce that we now have Benno Bikes in stock! Benno is a bicycle brand that focuses on electric cargo bikes that give you a reason to leave the car at home. We have both the RemiDemi and the eJoy on the floor.

Learn More

Benno RemiDemi 9D

The RemiDemi® breaks all the rules of how a bike is supposed to look and ride. We gave it small wheels and fat, grippy tires for major maneuverability. A thick, sturdy frame with a convenient low step through. And an upright seating position atop a wide saddle that puts you in total control. The RemiDemi loves to play, but it can also put in heavy work with a powerful Bosch mid-drive electric motor, Shimano Sora 9-speed and hydraulic disc brakes, and available accessories that give you countless clever ways to carry a child or loads of cargo.

Benno eJoy 10D

The eJoy, with Etility® Design, is so much more than cute. This is a seriously smart, seriously capable bike built around the industry leading Bosch mid-drive electric motor. The sturdy rack and available front trays and storage bags let you carry 2x more weight than the typical bike. The comfortable, upright riding position gives you confidence and control, even while carrying cargo. And for that extra precious cargo, the eJoy, is 100% compatible with most premium child seats.
