Wellness on Wheels is our favorite afterschool program in all of Houston. Started by long-time cyclist, community member, and ride leader Rene Gonzalez. Click here for a link to the full ABC13 article.
Join us for BikeHouston's Bayou Exploration Ride!
This is a slower, educational ride on the first Sunday of every month departing from Market Square (by NikoNiko’s) at 8 am (unless otherwise stated). This ride is designed to highlight existing and future bikeways. It is usually on both paved and unpaved surfaces. EaDo Bike Co will be along for the ride to provide rider support!
Pace: Moderate, with stops to discuss how Houston is evolving and what is coming;
Length: 2-3 hours;
Recommendations: Fatter tires highly recommended, but some folks tough it out on road bikes;
As always: helmet, water, and spare tubes; be self-sufficient.

Cycling has grown a lot in Houston over the past few years, and it's showing no signs of stopping! There is a new report out to prove it.
Awesome News: $345M will fund bicycle and pedestrian projects across Texas!
On October 26, the Texas Transportation Commission approved a historic $345M that will go to bicycle and pedestrian projects across the state.
The Houston-area will receive $52M that includes shared use paths, creating bike plans, sidewalks, and more!

Help Save the White Oak Bayou!
TxDOT's interest in ruining Houston's green spaces is endless.
The proposed 90-foot elevation of I-10 (see images) would do away with one of the best views of Houston's skyline! It will also take up to 10 years, hurt home values, lead to increased pollution, and more!
It's not too late to let TxDOT and the City of Houston know that we would rather have our greenways stay green than opt into another unnecessary freeway project.

In case you didn't know, the Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) is the regional organization through which local governments consider issues and cooperate in solving area wide problems. Through H-GAC, local governments also initiate efforts in anticipating and preventing problems, saving public funds.
Currently, Houston and Harris County make up 57% of the population represented on the H-GAC’s board of directors, yet the city and county combined only have 11% of the voting power. In addition, Houston and Harris County make up 62.6% of the population represented on the Transportation Policy Council, yet the city and county combined have only 17.9% of the voting power.
